Maser Miglia

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

At 6.05am tomorrow morning I head off to America for the Maser Miglia 8, a classic car rally run by the Maserati Club (usually in America).

I’ve been on one Maser Miglia before, which was great fun and this one promises to be excellent too, based as it is by the Grand Canyon. I’ll be taking lots of pictures and hopefully there’ll be ‘net access at the hotel so I can post some here while we’re still out there.

What I did last summer

Cute dog

Been sifting through loads of the photos when I got my first (proper-ish) camera last May (2004).

Some nice summer shots I think, as well as some good ‘uns from the autumn.

I added a bucketload of new photos to my flickr gallery the other day. I’m still catching up on photos taken before I started putting them online.

Included were the photos I took in Hong Kong before buying my Canon EOS (with a Fuji S5000), photos from the Tall Ships Race when the ships moored in the Newcastle-Gateshead Quayside (as well as the fireworks display the day before they left) and also the rest of the photos from the Red Bull Air Race at Longleat.

The coolest keyboard on the planet?

Saturday, August 13th, 2005

Optimus keyboardThe Optimus keyboard concept is quite simply stunning and if they can get it into production as promised, I’ll be found scouring the backs of sofas for every penny in order to get one as it’s bound to cost a fair packet.

Each and every key has its own OLED screen which can be customised to display whatever you want on it. The examples given by the designers, Art. Lebedev Studio, include all the keys with Photoshop shortcut icons and Quake keys (e.g. wasd changed for arrows).

Agile Web Development with Rails

Saturday, August 13th, 2005

My copy of the above-titled book arrived today, so I’ll hopefully be able to properly get stuck into learning Ruby and Rails at last.

With the little bits I’ve played around with so far, it does indeed look like it can live up to the hype, it’s just going to take me a bit of adjustment to get used to Ruby rather than PHP.

Got a design sorted for this site at last. I quite like it, but that’s to be expected.

Found a cool picture of Max I’d taken last October with some nice lighting, so quickly made it black & white for effect and shoved it online.
